JH Giants v. Rock Springs

The Jackson Giants American Legion baseball team split a pair of games at homer with the Rock Springs Mustangs on Thursday night, winning the first one 13-3 in six innings and dropping a tough one in the second, 18-16. In the first game, Andy Renz started and picked up the win, giving up three runs on four hits, before giving way to Sean Sonderman in the fourth with the Giants leading 8-3. Sonderman kept the Mustangs scoreless and allowed just two hits. Leading the way for the Giants was Christian Doyle, who went three-for-four with two RBIs, while Marc Rossolo was two-for-four with two RBIs and Joe Madsen went two-for-three with three runs scored.  Carlos Toledo was also two-for-three with two RBIs. The Giants ended the game with 14 hits.

In the nightcap, a seven-inning, three-hour marathon, the Giants were down 7-0 after an inning and a half.  In the bottom of the second they rallied for eight runs, with the big blows coming from Doyle with a three-run double, and Patrick Renz who knocked a two-run homer. The game was backand forth the rest of the way, with the Mustangs plating three in the seventh to take the win.  Rossolo went four-for-five with four RBIs and Carlos Toledo also homered in the fourth. Jackson pounded out 16 hits in the loss, while the Mustangs tallied 17. The Giants are now 9-8 on the season, heading into the Powell Heavy Metal Invite beginning on Friday afternoon.
