Post 43 Giants 18U Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over 406 Flyers


Post 43 Giants 18U took the lead late in the game in a 10-6 victory over 406 Flyers on Saturday. The game was tied at six with the Giants batting in the bottom of the fifth when Matt Ellingson tripled off of #2, driving in one run.

The Giants collected 13 hits and 406 Flyers had eight in the high-scoring affair

406 Flyers took an early lead in the first inning. Gus Armijo walked #10 with the bases loaded to drive in a run.

After 406 Flyers scored two runs in the top of the fourth, the Giants answered with two of their own. 406 Flyers scored when #10 singled off of Evan McHugh, driving in two runs. The Giants then answered when #2 uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run and Jon Fisher doubled off of #2, driving in one run.

McHugh earned the win for Post 43 Giants 18U. He tossed four innings, surrendering two runs, three hits, striking out three, and walking zero.

Armijo started the game for Post 43 Giants 18U. He went three innings, surrendering four runs, five hits, and striking out three.

Matt Ellingson, Nate Fairbanks, Aaron Villa, Mac Hollingsworth, and Anthony Bleggi each collected multiple hits for Post 43 Giants 18U. Bleggi, Hollingsworth, Villa, Fairbanks, and Ellingson all had two hits. The Giants tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Fisher led the way with two.

#10 and #25 each collected multiple hits for 406 Flyers. #10 led 406 Flyers with three hits in three at bats.
