Post 43 18U Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Boise Cannons

Post 43 Giants 18U took the lead late and defeated Boise Cannons 9-7 on Monday. The game was tied at seven with the Giants batting in the bottom of the fifth when Matt Ellingson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Post 43 collected nine hits and Boise Cannons had ten in the high-scoring affair.

In the second inning, Boise Cannons got their offense started. #1 singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Post 43 tied things up at seven. Post 43 scored three runs when Ellingson homered.

After Boise Cannons scored one run in the top of the third, Post 43 answered with one of their own. Boise Cannons scored when #5’s sac fly scored one run for Boise Cannons. The Giants then answered when Brian Feuz’s sac fly scored one run.

Post 43 scored four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower by was led by Jon Fisher and Ellingson, all driving in runs in the frame.

Boise Cannons scored three runs in the fourth inning. Boise Cannons’s big inning was driven by singles by #2 and #18.

Nate Fairbanks led the Post 43 to victory on the mound. He went five innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and striking out three. Feuz threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Feuz recorded the last six outs to earn the save.

#12 was on the hill for Boise Cannons. He surrendered seven runs on six hits over three and a third innings, striking out four. #11 and #7 entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.

Post 43 launched one home run on the day. Ellingson went yard in the fourth inning.

Post 43 had nine hits in the game. Quentin Bruno, Ellingson, and Fairbanks each managed multiple hits. Fairbanks, Ellingson, and Bruno each collected two hits to lead the team.

Boise Cannons totaled ten hits in the game. #4 and #14 all managed multiple hits for Boise Cannons. #4 led Boise Cannons with three hits in three at bats.

Post 43 Giants will host the Boise Cannons in another double header tonight at Giants Field.  Game 1 first pitch at 5:30pm.
