Dear Baseball Parent:
Attached you will find a 2016 application for the Jackson Hole Youth Cal Ripken Baseball league for 7-12 year old boys and girls. Please take a moment to complete this application in its entirety and turn it in as soon as possible.
All players will be placed on a team regardless of their ability. The objective of the league is for kids to learn about and play baseball and we expect all players, parents and spectators to maintain a high level of sportsmanship. For their participation, players can expect playing time in all games, a team hat, team jersey and, hopefully, a lifetime of fond memories playing baseball in Jackson Hole.
Fees for playing are $70 with an additional $50 for selling raffle tickets or $120 without selling raffle tickets. All players are expected to sell or purchase at least $50 worth of raffle tickets as part of the League’s fundraiser. Details of the raffle will be distributed after the season starts.
The structure of the league will be identical to the prior year:
Rookie League – Coach Pitch, 7 & 8 year olds, Games Tuesday & Thursday
Minor League – 9 & 10 year olds, Games Tuesday & Thursday
Major League – 11 & 12 year olds, Games Monday & Wednesday
Practices will start the week of April 25th with regular season play starting the week of May 2nd. The season will end by June 30th.
Tryouts for the Minors and Major Leagues are held so that the coaches can evaluate every player’s ability, resulting in a draft process that achieves evenly balanced teams. Tryouts for the Minor League will be held on Tuesday, April 19th and tryouts for the Major League will be held on Wednesday, April 20th. Both tryouts will be held at the Giants Field from 5:00-6:00 pm. In case of rain or snow the tryouts will be held in doors at the Middle School Gyms.
Rookie league players do not tryout; they will attend 2 camp-style practices Tuesday, April 26th and Thursday, April 28th from 5:30-6:30 pm at the Alpine Field between the Middle School and Colter Elementary School. In case of rain or snow the tryouts will be held in doors at the Middle School Gyms. They will be then placed on a team and subsequently notified by their coach for further practices and games.
For those players in the major and minor division, who desire more baseball and a higher level of play, the league will also have a travel program. Participation in the travel program will be an additional fee and serious commitment will be required. If your son or daughter is selected to play on the travel team, you will receive additional information at that time.
